Description

Objectives of the course (preferably expressed in terms of learning outcomes and competences Introductory university-level course dealing with the biotechnological applications of marine organisms.

Course contents: Introduction to marine biotechnology. Marine Genomics. Comparative functional Genomics of Marine Organisms. Marine enzyme biotechnology. Microbial Diversity and ecosystems: The case of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Transgenic organisms. Probiotics. Phage Biotechnology. Vaccines. Medicine from the seas.
