Molecular Biology and Biomedicine
The Graduate Programme in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (MBB) has been established and run jointly by our Department and the Section of Basic Sciences of the Department of Medicine, University of Crete. The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), a leading research Institute in molecular biology participates actively in all the educational, training and research activities of MBB. The scope of this programme is to provide high quality training to young scientists in molecular biology, with emphasis on cutting-edge developments and up to date technologies, and to prepare them for pursuing careers in both the academic and industrial research and biotechnology. The quality and the large number of research groups of the three collaborating institutions (Dept. of Biology, Dept of Medicine and IMBB offers excellent training, allows selection from diverse areas of modern molecular biology with the goal to better understand molecular functions as well as the development of potential medical and technological applications.
